FIFA Women’s World Cup™ marks 50 days to go with launch of ‘Fancestry’

  • 50 days to go until the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™ kicks off

  • FIFA launches ‘Fancestry’ – a digital experience providing fans with the perfect tool to uncover more teams to support throughout the tournament

  • 32 teams to receive even more local and global support through the Fancestry initiative

To mark 50 days to go until the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™, FIFA has launched ‘Fancestry’, a digital engagement tool to support fans to uncover additional teams to connect with and support throughout the tournament.

FIFA’s Fancestry digital experience is a fun personality quiz providing fans with the perfect tool to find which other teams they most closely align with by answering a series of questions.

Upon completion of the quiz, a user’s unique Fancestry will be revealed in the form of a digital custom-designed football jersey. The jersey will feature four different segments, each depicting the competing nations that represent the users’ Fancestry.

FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ Head of Marketing Kim Anderson believes the tool will enable fans in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, as well as elsewhere around the world, to discover more teams to cheer for.

“We know our fans in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand are among the most welcoming in the world,” Anderson said. “We’re confident they will fully embrace the Fancestry initiative so all teams can feel supported while they’re competing thousands of miles away from home.”

This year’s tournament will feature eight debutant teams. Ms Anderson added that having a vibrant ‘home’ crowd away from home could be a lift for the teams, and further showcase the power of football.

“This tournament is about inclusivity and unity, so using the Fancestry tool to find out which teams fans can align with will bring communities together and create a greater buzz in stadium.”

“Most teams have not travelled to our part of the world before, and by launching Fancestry, our goal is to encourage more supporters to adopt teams so that all 32 nations will feel welcomed and supported while they are here on the world’s biggest sporting stage for women.”

Fans can find their Fancestry at FIFA.com/fancestry

Tickets for the tournament are on sale at FIFA.com/tickets.
